What Apple has actually announced

Apple announced iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on 9 September 2026. The company says the Pro models use A20 Pro, offer new camera controls, and bring iOS 27 with Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. Apple lists iPhone 18 Pro from US$1,199 and iPhone 18 Pro Max from US$1,299; it also lists Malaysia among the markets able to preorder from 12 September with availability from 18 September. Confirm current Malaysian ringgit pricing directly with Apple Malaysia or an authorised retailer before treating a converted US price as a local price.

Apple also announced iPhone Duo as its first foldable iPhone. Opened, Apple describes a 7.6-inch inner display; closed, a 5.4-inch outer display. The company lists US pricing from US$1,999 and says Malaysia is among the initial markets for preorders from 16 October and availability from 23 October. Siri AI changes the task model, not just the assistant button

Apple says Siri AI in iOS 27 is rolling out in beta and can use personal context, on-screen awareness, web knowledge, and cross-app information. That raises the bar for an application’s own state model. If a user asks an assistant to find an order, prepare a quote, update a case, or explain a screen, the app must keep identity, permissions, task state, confirmation, and error recovery clear.

For a business app, do not assume an assistant-generated action is self-explanatory. Show what record is affected, what will change, what source information was used, who can approve it, and how a user can correct or undo it. This is good product design whether the assistant is Siri AI, an in-product agent, or a conventional automation.

Apple’s iPhone Duo guidance says an app should adapt across both displays and device poses, with standard components handling much of the change when an app already supports resizing. Apple recommends keeping important elements clear of reserved regions around the centre, using layouts that divide cleanly, and avoiding dramatic rearrangement while the device folds.

For a web or cross-platform app, the practical equivalent is responsive layout that does not depend on one fixed viewport. Use container-aware components, preserve navigation and the primary action, avoid positioning critical controls at the centre seam, give wider layouts a meaningful second pane rather than stretched empty space, and test the same workflow at narrow, wide, and intermediate widths.
